Minecraft Legends offers a departure from the traditional sandbox building gameplay, with a focus on real-time action strategy. While the game will still incorporate some building elements, the emphasis is on defending your settlement against hostile invaders. According to a presentation at Gamescom, the game is described as a colorful mix of building and RTS (real-time strategy) gameplay. So, while building is still a part of the game, it will not be the main focus.

In Minecraft Legends, players can choose to play co-op or competitive multiplayer, and enjoy cross-platform play.

Co-op mode is based on the game's main campaign, while PvP is a separate mode that players can enjoy independently. Although there are some similarities between the modes, such as procedurally generated combat areas, both modes offer different gameplay experiences. Moreover, players will face Piglins as PvE enemies in both modes, which adds an extra layer of chaos to PvP skirmishes.

In PvP mode, up to eight players can enter a lobby and split into two teams of four. Players will then build their bases and armies before attacking each other in battle. The objective is to destroy the enemy's base while building structures to gain buffs and advantages. Each match is expected to last for 20-30 minutes.

In co-op mode, players can team up and play through the campaign together. However, it's unclear how many players can join the same lobby. So far, there is no information to suggest that the co-op lobby will have fewer than eight players.

Get ready to meet some classic characters in Minecraft Legends:

1. Villagers: Expect to encounter NPCs who will provide players with a range of tasks and assignments to complete throughout the game.
2. Creepers: As the main character, you'll have the power to give creepers different instructions and use them to your advantage.
3. Golems: Look out for various types of golems, each with their own unique strengths that players can utilize during battles.

Minecraft Legends promises to deliver an array of exciting features, including:

• The classic division of the land world into biomes, but with notable improvements for a more immersive experience.
• A brand new combat system, along with strategic elements to enhance the gameplay.
• A redesigned crafting and building system for a smoother player experience.
• An adventure across the world to gather resources, ally with others, battle against the predatory pigs, and establish bases.
• The ability to explore biomes at a faster pace by traveling around on a mount.
