Batman is dead

The Caped Crusader is no more.

That's right, Batman is dead in the new Gotham Knights game from WB Games Montreal. This news comes hot on the heels of the recent gameplay reveal for the title, which also showed off the Batfamily in all their crime-fighting glory.

So what does this mean for the future of Gotham City? Well, that's yet to be seen. But with Bruce Wayne out of the picture, it looks like it's up to Batman's allies to pick up the slack and keep the city safe from harm.

Long live the Gotham Knights.With Batman gone, it’s up to Gotham’s finest to protect the city in his stead—and that’s where you come in. Gotham Knights is a brand-new co-operative action RPG set in the DC Universe, and it’s coming to PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S consoles and PC. It looks like Warner Bros. Montreal is going to be delivering a dark and gritty take on the Batman mythos. The game will focus on Bruce Wayne’s extended family of crimefighters—Batman’s trusted butler Alfred Pennyworth, Nightwing, Batgirl, Red Hood, and Robin—as they defend Gotham from a new threat.

So far, so good—Gotham Knights looks like it could be a lot of fun. We don’t know too much about the story just yet, but we do know that you’ll be able to take control of each of the five main characters as you see fit, switch between them on the fly, and team up with a friend for some two-player co-op action. As you might expect, each character will have their own unique abilities, playstyles, and Loadouts.

Warner Bros. Games Montreal has also worked on games in the Assassin’s Creed and Splinter Cell franchises, so they know a thing or two about creating immersive action-adventure experiences.

The Court of Owls

The Court of Owls is a criminal organization that has been operating in Gotham City for centuries. They are a secret society that is made up of the city's wealthiest and most powerful families. The Court is responsible for many of the city's illegal activities, including drug trafficking, money laundering, and murder. They are also known for their use of assassination and intimidation to further their goals.

The Court first came to public attention during the Batman: Zero Year storyline, when they were revealed to be behind the blackout that plunged Gotham City into darkness. In the wake of the blackout, the Court began a campaign of terror against the city's criminals, using owls as their symbol. This led to a confrontation with Batman, who eventually defeated the Court and exposed their secrets to the world.

Since then, the Court has continued to operate in secret, carrying out their nefarious activities behind the scenes. They have remained one of Batman's deadliest enemies, and have even been responsible for his death on several occasions.

The Court of Owls is set to make its debut in the upcoming Gotham Knights video game. The game will feature an original story that sees Batman and his allies teaming up to take on the Court.

Release Date

Gotham Knights was revealed at the DC FanDome event in August 2020. The game is set to release OCTOBER 21ST, 2022 for PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S consoles and PC.
